Alex Salzman

Alex is a determined social entrepreneur. He has applied his drive to do well, by doing good, at ventures in consumer products, advertising, new media, and socially responsible investment.

While earning a degree in Economics at Princeton University, Alex took a leave of absence to assist with the launch of TerraCycle, Inc., a company producing products derived from and packaged in waste.

Shifting his focus to media, Alex co-founded international cause marketing
agency, Blue Horizon Media, in 2005. The agency gave birth to Rethos, Inc,

a network of social media sites devoted to uniting individuals,
non-profit organizations, and socially responsible businesses on solutions
to social and environmental issues. In 2008, Rethos was acquired by Parta.

In 2009, Alex founded VisCap, an investment bank for responsible business.
Alex leads the team at VisCap to provide financial advisory services to
media, consumer products, and clean technology companies with
commercial value positioned on social responsibility.

A thought leader in the responsible business movement, Alex continues to share his knowledge and passion for social entrepreneurship, corporate responsibility, and socially responsible investing at universities and industry conferences.

Ken A. McMillen

Ken McMillen is a Managing Director at VisCap LLC (San Francisco).

Mr. McMillen has been engaged by hundreds of companies, from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, as consultant, principal or advisor.

He was one of the original members of The Carl Marks Consulting Group (New York), where he executed over 60 assignments on distressed businesses.  His venture capital experience includes positions at GeoCapital (New York) and Hambros International Venture Fund (New York and London).  His private equity experience includes Managing Director roles at American Industrial Acquisition (Greenwich, CT), CM Equity Partners (New York), and CoBe Capital (New York). He was a founder of Johnsen, McMillen & Company, (New York & San Francisco)   an investment banking firm arranging private placements and M&A services for early stage technology companies. 

Mr. McMillen holds a B.A. from the University of California at Davis, and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
